News Release – Cedar Key, Florida

NEW EXHIBIT OPENS October 9  at the Cedar Key Arts Center

Below the Waterline – Observations from a disappearing habitat

Join us at the Cedar Key Arts Center, Saturday, Oct 9, 5-7 pm for the opening of Andy Kane’s photography and mixed media exhibit entitled Below the Waterline. After more than a decade of conducting research on Apalachicola Bay Andy Kane has continued  to be inspired by the beauty and capacity of oysters. Below The Waterline reflects our changing environment, focusing on Apalachicola Bay, where loss of self-sustaining oyster habitat has been a long-standing challenge.  This exhibit provides an opportunity for visitors to learn and share perspectives about what’s not readily seen nor easily understood below the waterline.

This free exhibit is open 10 am – 5 pm daily and will run through November 15. The Cedar Key Arts Center is located upstairs at 457 2nd St in Cedar Key.  Please enter through the Cedar Keyhole Artist Co-op.  For more information about upcoming gallery shows and workshops at the Arts Center go to www.CedarKeyArtsCenter.org.

Carriage driving is an equestrian sport which involves a driver seated on a vehicle that is pulled by a single horse, pair, or team of four horses. A Combined Driving Event is a three-day competition that includes three different disciplines: dressage, marathon and cones. Driven Dressage is where the horse and driver team complete a pattern and are judged on precision and quality of movement. Marathon involves an obstacle course which is a test in speed and endurance, and Cones is a test of agility and obedience where the driver carefully navigates between 20 cones. Driving Derby involves an obstacle course that combines marathon and cones and is driven at speed.
