Florida Arts Festival Spotlight: Levy County's Old Florida Celebration of the Arts
Levy County hosts one of the best Florida arts festivals every year during the spring. The annual event, the Old Florida Celebration of the Arts, takes place on Cedar Key's historic Second Street. The festival has been voted one of the top five juried art fairs in the South from Art Fair Calendar, and it brings together a diverse mix of 120 talented artists. The 2016 event takes place April 9-10.
Festival attendees can browse local vendor booths for gifts to take home or search for handmade jewelry for someone special. But the star of the show will almost certainly be photography and paintings depicting iconic Cedar Key and Levy County scenes and sunsets as well as other picture-perfect Florida landscapes. Artist demonstrations take place in the afternoons, and live music is on the schedule. This festival is welcoming to the whole family: Kids have their own activities, and pups are welcome!
Before, during and after the festival, visitors can take in the coastal scenery. The city park and beach is the terminus of the art festival's promenade, and it has a playground, food vendors and a picnic area right on the water. You can also have dinner at one of the nearby seafood restaurants, and be sure to see one of Cedar Key's spectacular sunsets for yourself.
